Consider the points listed below as some of the ways we overcome attacks:
- The first point of attack Satan targets is our own hearts. “Clothe yourselves, all of you with humility toward one another, for God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (5:5).
- God is our vindicator. We often have the urge to defend ourselves. It is not necessary, for that belongs to God alone (Romans 12:19; Hebrews 10:30; 1 Peter 5:6).
- God knows better than we do the needs of our lives and ministries, so “cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
- “Be sober-minded and watchful” (1 Peter 5:8; Acts 20:28). Often the biggest battles are fought in our hearts. Thinking with the mind of Christ by the Spirit is critical. The first place we need to watch is our own hearts.
