“And he (Jesus) said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Luke 10:2).
This verse came to mind today as I was praying and thinking about my partner Tim leaving on Tuesday for a mission’s trip to India and other places. Knowing how difficult we have found the soil in this vast country, with the largest number of unreached people groups anywhere in the world, my prayers have become more “earnest”. Tomorrow I will post his itinerary so you can be praying. I trust this blog will prepare you for this kind of “earnest” prayer.
Is our confidence for answers in how earnestly we pray for something? You and I both know that our passions and devotions ebb and flow with every twist and turn of circumstances. We run hot and cold – UNLESS – we have real, deep fellowship on a regular basis with “the Lord of the harvest”. Our confidence is in HIM, the Lord of the harvest, not ourselves!
Tomorrow, will you “pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest” for a special moving of the Holy Spirit through Tim and on those he is visiting? “This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.” (Ephesians 3:11–12).
