In a day when terror is lurking in every corner of the world, we must intentionally strengthen our faith by letting “the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Colossians 3:16) and “take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:17). “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23).
“But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit” (Jude 20). The danger for every believer is to focus on problems, both within and in the world at large. Christ must hold our undivided attention in good times and when terror and trouble are at every turn. Purposely seek the Holy Spirit’s power to cause the Word of God to “richly dwell in you” so that your mind and heart are guarded and renewed so “that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” Romans 12:2).
“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving” (Colossians 2:6–7).
