“God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.” (2:24).
Why was it impossible for Jesus to be held more than three days by death? We find a pivotal answer to this question in John’s Gospel: “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4). Life existed in Jesus and could not be separated from who He was except when He laid it down in order that He might take it again (10:17). Notice also the authority that was behind this act of power and grace: “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”” (John 10:18).
How thankful we must be for God’s impossibilities! Now is the time to worship!
