In this blog I want to draw your attention to a vital aspect of Scripture that determines whether or not we take the truths and principles of God’s Word and apply them to ourselves in every venue of life and ministry. This subject goes beyond the issue of inerrancy of Scripture. Inerrancy is a given for us. Authority has to do with whether or not I see Scripture as God speaking directly to me, leaving no option but to obey and follow its instruction.
To help us understand the importance of this subject, there is no better place to turn to than the Bible and see what it says about itself. Since there are many references on this subject, it will take this and the next few posts to cover them. Please look at each Scripture and its context, asking the Holy Spirit to give you deeper understanding.
· Psalm 19:7-14 – The Word (law) of the Lord is perfect, sure, right, pure, clean, true and righteous altogether, better than fine gold, honey, and able to warn His servant. What I have not done for you in this reference is to give the benefits that result in you personally. Be sure to read these verses to apply them to you personally.
· Psalm 119:9-16 – Guarding our hearts with God’s Word is the way of keeping our lives pure. His Word must be “stored up…in our heart” through “meditation” and by “delighting’ in it.
· Psalm 119:105 – God’s Word is a “lamp to our feet and a light to our path”. How important in this dark world.
· Psalm 138:2 – God has “exalted above all things HIS name and HIS word”
These are part of Lesson 47 of God’s Plan for His Church which can be downloaded from the Training Resource page.
