Tim's trip to Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar was filled with new opportunities to present the CPM to the Karen believers, CPM workshops in Myanmar, and strengthening leaders wherever he went. The hunger for biblical principles is so evident. Tim reported at one point: " Spent several days out in the Karen Villages, stayed with his family, lived in their huts and ate their food. We established a good relationship and believe the Lord has open a very wide door with the KBC (Karen Baptist Church). Met the General Secretary and they are ready to go ahead with training." This is cause for much thanksgiving!!
Since Tim's return we have pursued preparation for the third edition of the CPM, but changing the title a little to reflect how the Lord is widening our focus. The new title will be God's Plan for His Church - Church Planting - Church Renewal which is expanded from the previous edition plus we have added illustrations to add clarity to the material. The draft is being completed and we trust will go to print by the end of this month.
At the same time, we have been invited by a seminary in the Middle East to reformat this material into a seminary course. The Course Outline has been approved and we are in the process of developing ten lessons that will be offered to student throughout the Middle East and North Africa. How amazing that this opportunity should come just as turmoil is rising in that region. How true Paul's words are in 2 Timothy 2:9; "But the word of God is not bound!" Please be in urgent prayer about both of these ongoing challenges.
Finally, my son Chris and I (Sherman) leave for a six week trip to Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar. Chris will be with me for the first part of the journey and then head up to China before heading home. The travel dates will span from the beginning of October to mid-November. I ask that you be in prayer, before, during and after these dates.
I cannot over emphasize the importance of your prayers! Even as I look at this schedule, I realize that none of this will have any value or fruit unless the Holy Spirit is in full control. Thank you again for standing with us.
Humbly - just a servant for Christ,
Sherman, Tim and Chris
