As we have been thinking about what it means to be closer to God in our personal relationship, I want to draw your attention to Jesus and how he chose his disciples. There are two Scriptures we will look at in this blog.
“And He appointed twelve (whom He also named apostles) so that they might be with Him and He might send them out to preach” (Mark 3:14).
“In these days He went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God. And when day came, He called his disciples and chose from them twelve, whom He named apostles:” (Luke 6:12–13).
These verses must be studied carefully. From them I draw two major points that are often overlooked in writings on the disciples.
