From time to time we need to look at the lives of those who have gone before us to see how they lived by faith and received needed grace. Annie Flint wrote this hymn, He Giveth More Grace, out of the many trials of her own life, including the loss of her parents at an early age. Allow these words to minister to you personally:
He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase,
To added affliction He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half-done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
His love has no limit, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men,
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth and giveth and giveth again.
Perhaps you are facing trials that have dampened your faith and you have allowed the trials to cause you to miss the supply of God’s grace that you need right now. Please reread this hymn and realize that God wants to add His mercy, give His strength, and help you see once again the riches you have in Christ.
God gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6; Proverbs 3:34). We say with Paul that God has given us grace “to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ” (Ephesians 3:8).
